The Bookmark Inc.
The Philippines' longest-running bookstore, carrying generations of readers, Filipino authors, and the culture built around them.
We moved The Bookmark Inc.'s catalog onto Shopify, built a checkout that matches how Filipinos actually pay, and help run its social presence with an editor's eye.
01 / The brief
What the client needed
The Bookmark Inc. has sold books in the Philippines longer than any other store, and that history is part of what people buy from it. The work was never to modernize the brand into something unrecognizable. It was to make buying a book easier — a clearer catalog, a simpler checkout — while keeping the warmth and cultural weight the store has carried for decades.
02 / Our approach
How we tackled it
We treated the project as stewardship. Shopify became the backbone for organizing the catalog and smoothing the path to purchase, with a payment flow built around how local customers actually pay, including a GCash QR code for anyone who chooses it. The same care runs through social. We write the detailed Meta posts, cover Bookmark's events, and produce its TikToks, and when the in-house team writes their own posts, we review them and send feedback before anything goes live — closer to an editor-in-chief than an outside agency.
03 / Outcomes
What happened next
Bookmark's catalog is organized and easier to shop, and checkout now matches what local customers expect to see. Its social presence reads as an extension of the bookstore's own voice, and the editorial review keeps quality steady whether a post comes from us or from the Bookmark team.
